TRAVEL BASKETBALL PROGRAM IN NORTHEAST OHIO
James is currently a youth basketball director at the Lakewood YMCA in Lakewood, Ohio. At Lakewood, he oversees all youth basketball activities and the Junior Cavs program. Coach Cooper is also a youth basketball coach with the Cavs Academy, the official training program of the Cleveland Cavaliers. James helps the Cavs with many community programs, including Gym Class Takeovers, School Enrichment, and Cavs Academy Summer Camps. In 2022, Coach Cooper was named as the Jr. NBA Coach of the Year. This award goes to the top Jr. NBA coaches throughout the country. Coach Cooper leads and oversees our youth boys teams in grades third through fifth. He is also involved on the girls side, helping with the 6th grade girls. Coach Coop is one of our lead trainers, and he leads many of skill sessions and workouts.
